Algebra I
Index of a Root
By now we know the √ symbol undoes raising a number to the power of 2. But what if we want to undo a number that was raised to a higher power. We can use the same √ symbol, but add an index in front of it. The value of the index undoes a power of the same number. For example, ∛ undoes raising a number to the third power and ∜ undoes raising a number to the fourth power.
